We don’t have much for technical updates this week. Last week we shipped join links and QR codes as well as some Android app fixes, but our topic this week is much broader. We want to talk about why Pulse exists and why it’s built differently than the dozens of AI tools popping up (and shutting down) every day.
The Sustainable Engine
Pulse is fundamentally built on a foundation of efficiency rather than brute force. We are leveraging renewable energy and reclaimed compute to drive our operations, ensuring that our growth doesn't come at the expense of the planet or your budget. By utilizing a specialized workflow engine, we enable smaller, more efficient models to tackle complex tasks that would typically require massive, expensive LLMs. This allows us to optimize for tokens per watt and significantly lower your inference costs.
A General Solution, Not Just a Wrapper
The current AI landscape is flooded with "wrappers." These are tools that simply layer a thin UI on top of an expensive foundation model to solve one tiny, specific problem. While "vibe coding" might work for a hobbyist, real-world business logic requires much more than just a clever prompt. Frontier APIs often require heavy programming skills to be truly useful in production. Pulse is a general-purpose solution, meaning the platform adapts to your existing workflow rather than forcing you to overhaul your entire business to fit the model.
The Economics of Scaling
Scaling with traditional AI can quickly become a financial nightmare if you aren't careful. If you try to process 100 ten-page PDFs through a standard frontier API, the costs are hard to justify, whereas Pulse utilizes a flat-rate model based on throughput. We see a similar pattern in software implementation. Instead of an SMB spending a fortune on a rigid, high-cost WMS or CRM, Pulse’s workflow engine allows you to build custom solutions at a fraction of the traditional per-user cost.
Data Sovereignty with Kash Files
To complement our cloud capabilities, we are also pushing the boundaries of user control with Kash Files. This is our open-source, self-host companion app for both web and mobile that changes how you interact with your data. Instead of being locked into a centralized cloud, Kash Files allows you to bring your storage on-prem and keep it firmly under your own control while still integrating seamlessly with the cloud and mobile applications.
The Mobile Ecosystem
Finally, the Pulse ecosystem extends directly to your mobile device through our free apps. These tools are designed to make data entry and retrieval as seamless as possible:
- Scan QR codes or barcodes and push data directly to Pulse.
- Ingest real-world data like invoices, inventory information, or even handwritten notes.
- Pull scoped information from your Pods to make real-time decisions.
- Connect your physical environment to your digital workflow without the friction of manual entry.
- Experience the power of an intelligent workflow engine right from your pocket.
