Hello!
Not a ton of new releases this week, but we’ve been busy behind the scenes. Much of our time went into optimizing social media and email outreach - you may have seen the video we shared in the newsletter. These demos help new and prospective users see how Kash can boost productivity, content creation, workflow automation, auditing, and social networking.
Now, here’s what’s coming next week:
Mobile Apps – Pulling Content from Pods
- iOS, macOS, and Android apps will now pull content from pods, including posts from other pod members.
- Setup is simple: scan a QR code or enter it manually.
- We may also introduce push notifications for pings or new posts, though we’re keeping interruptions minimal. Some updates may appear directly in the UI after you push content to Kash/Kash Files.
Mobile Apps – No Node Required to Pull Content
- Many users found signing up for an account a barrier. With direct pull support, anyone can scan a QR code and configure the free app on their device
- Users can “follow” others and receive notifications from pods without creating a node.
- I'm particularly excited to see this used at events, imagine creating a temporary pod for your followers/friends/colleagues so everyone can see what's going on.
- From a business perspective, this should increase user “stickiness.” Scanning a QR code is simpler than onboarding on other platforms, which helps reduce friction.
Bugfixes & Optimizations
- The pods API will soon pull more than 100 digests per tag, the previous limits were due to load-testing assumptions. The API now supports thousands of digests as long as pods don’t have more than ~15 tags each.
- Kash frontend will use the “advertise” feature in Pods to identify federated tags faster, improving load times for users with many pods.
- The main “tag” page will automatically filter by date range, similar to the current “main” page filters (last day, 3 days, 10 days, 90 days, etc.).
Stay tuned for these updates next week! Your feedback keeps Kash evolving!
